Welcome to The Admissions Game! This website is intended to inform you about today's complicated -- and sometimes unfair -- college admissions process. Teenagers in America today are expected to meet sometimes impossibly high expectations in order to be admitted to elite universities. Students work for years to achieve high grades and impressive test scores, while still being involved in extracurricular activities, in order to be considered for admission to their dream schools. However some students' hard work is rendered useless because of unfair admission processes.
Some universities give preferential treatment to minority students, legacy students, applicants from different states, men, and athletes. If a student is part of one of the previously mentioned groups, they may have an advantage while applying to college. My research paper investigates how these factors can affect students' applications.
Wow.. I knew that race and athletics can give you an advantage but I didn't know that all the other aspects can have such a great impact on admissions. Love the website too! Really cool.
ReplyDeleteWow I never realized how unfair the admissions process for college is. Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteI think that the admissions process should be rethought and evened out. I do think that it is important to have a set standard of who is accepted, but I also think that everyone applying should be held at that standard.
ReplyDeleteAwesome website! I did not realize how biased the admission process is and which aspects are weighed more than others. I think that the procedure should be changed to fit a specific standard. Nice job!
